The coronavirus is a highly transmissible and pathogenic virus that emerged at the beginning of the 21st century. The virus likely originated in bats and can cause a range of illnesses in humans including common cold and more severe forms like Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) which are life-threatening. The virus is named after its shape as it forms crown-like protrusions around it and hence the name.
More than 95,000 people in 86 countries have been infected with the virus and around 3,200 people have died.
One of the most relevant symptoms of the virus attacking can be cough and cold, fever and shortness of breath. One should seek the help of a doctor when going through these symptoms.
Prevention is always better than cure. Currently, there is no such vaccine developed to fight coronavirus though scientists are working on it. But, there are some preventive measures that you can take to avoid the attack of this deadly virus and prevent you from coronavirus.
1. Avoid Close Contact With Sick People
The symptoms of the viral disease are quite common and people may not take these signs seriously and report to the doctor. The best way to avoid transmission is to stay away from people whom you find coughing or sneezing frequently. You should tell the person to seek medical help as soon as possible to avoid any further transmission. Maintain at least 3 feet distance from sick people and avoid any kind of contact with them
2. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, and Mouth
We have certain direct openings in our body and some of them are eyes, nose, and mouth through which the germs can get a direct pathway inside the body. We should avoid touching these openings so that even if there is some kind of virus on our hands, they may not get inside our body and infect us.
3. Frequently disinfect your hands and your surroundings.
Our hands pick up dirt very easily so we should frequently wash our hands with disinfectant soap to prevent coronavirus. We should also disinfect regularly used objects with disinfectant sprays. One should use proper hand sanitizers before cooking and eating. Keep your household clean and do not allow dust particles to rest at ant place.
4. Wear a Facemask
We cannot stop going out and stop carrying on our daily chores because of this virus but we can surely wear a facemask that can keep out most of the pollutants away while we breathe in. Covering the nose and the mouth with a face mask is a very effective way to breathe safely. We should always cover the nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing so that we do not infect others.
5. Stay at Home
Though the symptoms of the disease are quite common and we usually ignore such disorders but if we are experiencing any of such symptoms, it is not the time to ignore it. We should seek proper help and stay at home so that we do not spread the disease by any means. Take proper medication and accurate guidance to prevent coronavirus.
